Interniche Networking Products

InterNiche Technologies has developed a comprehensive suite of products that enable embedded system developers to add communications, network and management to their designs.

Since these products have been designed from the ground up they address the needs of the embedded designer. The products are not only complete from a features standpoint but also have minimal system and memory requirements, and they have been designed with portability in mind.

Communications Protocols

  • NicheStack IPv4/IPv6 - is a fully compliant suite of protocols for Internet, Intranet and LAN connectivity. The InterNiche IP layer can be configured as a standard client machine, an IP router or a multi-homed server. Available for IPv4 or IPv6.
  • NicheLite - a full featured subset of   NicheStack™ TCP/IP, written completely in C and under 12 KB in size.
  • PPP - (Point-to-Point Protocol) is a suite of protocols that operate with the TCP/IP stack to allow embedded products to communicate over a serial line. It can function as a client or a server and supports all standard PPP authentication protocols.
  • FTP Client & Server - adds File Transfer Protocol Client and Server functions to the TCP/IP product. Allows the copying of large blocks of data to and from the embedded system efficiently, easily and with standard tools.
  • NichePop3 - adds the ability to retrieve email from a POP3 email server on an embedded system. Can be accessed from an embedded Browser such as NicheView.
  • TELNET - enables an embedded system to provide network accessibility for remote configuration and monitoring through the TELNET server.

Web, Management and Configuration

  • NicheView - is a deeply embedded World Wide Web Browser designed for embedded systems. A generic interface is provided for input events and output streams which pass text blocks, images, and other content to device drivers. NicheView supports a subset of HTML 4.0, including all the features in the proposed standard "Compact HTML". Also includes support for multiple fonts, Frames, Animated GIF, Colour, JPEG files, Tables, Forms, "plug-ins" and a subset of the Javascript™ langauge.
  • WebPort - is an embedded web server which allows HTML pages on an embedded device to be accessed by end users with any World Wide Web browser. This eliminates the need for host specific configuration and monitoring programs creating a truly portable interface to the embedded system. Supports all standard web features including CGI and SSI.
  • Email Alerter - adds notification functionality to embedded systems designs. Predetermined messages can be sent from the embedded system to any email address, local or remote.
  • SNMP - is a fully compliant v1/v3 agent supporting management by all of the popular SNMP management tools and workstations. Includes a MIB Compiler to convert MIBs into C code.
  • DHCP Server - allows developers to add DHCP Server functionality to their embedded systems allowing the assignment of temporary or permenant IP addresses to clients. The Server can also assign private IP addresses for LAN devices connected to a NAT Router.
  • DNS Server - Adds the capability of internet DNS support and named private clients within the local network. Both forward and reverse DNS transactions are supported.

Specialised Routing Software

  • NATRouter - is designed to overcome problems businesses experience with IP networking such as obtaining, installing and maintaining IP addresses. When combined with the InterNiche DHCP Server, NATRouter can automatically configure and connect up to 64,000 devices to the Internet sharing a single IP address.
  • Routing Information Protocol (RIP) - is a complete module for developers of embedded systems that adds RIP functionality to their embedded design thus eliminating the need to manually create and maintain routing tables.

Operating System Components

  • NicheTask- is an excellent fit for embedded systems developers that need a multitasking scheduler rather than an RTOS since it has extremely small memory requirements. The API is designed so that it can be easily mapped to a more sophisticated RTOS if this requirement is realised at a later stage.
  • NicheFile - enables embedded systems developers to add read/write capability to RAM, flash or disk. Can be mapped to an existing file system.
